Together with Lee, I am the other founding member of South West Business Intelligence. I have a driving passion to ensure that business intelligence projects succeed by delivering impactful insight, as a consultancy, I want us to make a real difference.
As well as having over fifteen years of Business Intelligence and performance management experience, I also possess a broad technical skillset covering software development which means I can appreciate the wider benefits that technology can bring to your organisation.
I work closely with David to ensure the solution we create with and for you benefits from our combined wealth of experience and depth of expertise.
Outside of technology, I love the great outdoors and in particular climbing, trekking, kayaking, mountaineering and all things involving a tent – anything but football basically (sorry Dave!)
I’m one of the Directors of South West Business Intelligence, specifically delivering project and client management services. My information management experience is primarily in the health sector (both public and private) and more recently managing a more varied portfolio working with SWBI.
I'll be your first point of contact and will be a familiar face throughout the full life cycle of any project, if you've any questions at any time, just let me know.
I live in Cornwall and when I’m not busy working, you can probably find me either juggling two (soon to be three) demanding kids or hiding on a beach somewhere with a nice weighty history tome!
I’ve sixteen years of Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse experience providing solutions to a wide variety of clients. During this time, I’ve worked in a variety of roles, from advisory to development, enabling clients to complete their analytical projects successfully.
I also have extensive data modelling experience using a variety of tools and methodologies and have formal training and practical experience with several RDBMs and OLAP sources on a variety of platforms.
Lee says my skillset is too extensive to list in full (really!) but it ranges from IBM Cognos, to Microsoft SQL Server via SSPS, Tableau, Power BI and Qlikview.
I have been consulting and providing technical services in the Cognos and Business Intelligence space since 1999 and cut my teeth on the old client based Cognos Products (Impromptu, Transformer and Powerplay) and since then have gained broad experience in most of the Cognos products including Impromptu, Powerplay, Transformer, Architect, Framework Manager, Reportnet, Report Studio, Analysis Studio and Query Studio up to and including the current versions as well as having exposure to the Microsoft BI Stack. Industry exposure includes Banking, Insurance, Not for Profit, Retail, Gaming, Retail and Manufacturing.
Prior to my BI life, I worked in the Manufacturing Industry (specifically with ERP systems) as well as with ERP Implementation Consultancies.
I have found that as I have worked on both sides of the fence (as a User and Consultant) I am in most cases more empathetic to a client’s needs.
Outside of "work" I am a keen cyclist and a qualified bicycle mechanic and interested in alternative energy sources.
I’m a highly skilled business intelligence expert with over 15 years of industry experience. I’ve managed and implemented the successful design and subsequent delivery of Cognos installations within a variety of industries and possess a rich technical knowledge allied with advanced report design and ETL skills. I’m reliably informed (so Dave says!) that I possess excellent interpersonal skills which really come to the fore in environments where I can manage and interact with team members to achieve the project goals. I’m highly motivated by new challenges and opportunities and I’ll work with you and think creatively to overcome obstacles to success.
Ade did his masters thesis in machine learning neural networks and used to own Croydon’s largest night club (which Lee has shamefully frequented in his dim and distant past)!
I’ve more than ten years of experience in business intelligence focussing in the main on SAP Business Objects and Oracle, coupled with an excellent understanding of general data warehousing concepts and best practice.
My industry experience has straddled a multitude of sectors, including financial services, oil & gas, retail, media/communications, publishing, pharmaceuticals and a range of public sector organisations – in short, I’ve been pretty busy!
My strengths are in ensuring effective communication and coordination within a team. For a client engagement, I will be the guy who helps to ensure technical and business communication channels flow effortlessly and seamlessly to ensure thay there are no ambiguities.
Jim, modest as he is, used to work for Business Objects and travelled the world for them, so he’s a font of knowledge for all things worldly in our camp!
Since graduating from UWE, I have worked as a software developer, business analyst and project manager for a wide range of organisations, from complex blue chips to start-ups, within the technology, wholesale, energy, transport and education sectors. I was involved in an early Data Warehousing Project, as an intern at Hewlett Packard, and have watched the technology evolve with interest. My passion is for systems that provide the right information (answer key business questions) are flexible and easy for business users to access.
I am in my element working as an interface between technical teams and business users - whether eliciting system requirements, developing client reports, or training business users.
In my free time I enjoy baking, walking, decorating and reading.
I have been working in IT for over 30 years from punched tape to the cloud, coding to project management and consulting.
I spent 20 years at Hewlett-Packard working with manufacturing and supply chain systems with particular expertise in integrating third parties into the supply chain.
My goal is to add value by understanding business requirements and turning those into successful IT solutions, both in terms of day to day processes and in providing timely and targetted information to aid decision making.
In my spare time I’m a DIY addict and a cyclist.
After a career in Telecommunications with both BT and Cable and Wireless I have spent the last 20 years as a management consultant helping global organisations transform their business operations and infrastructure.
I have been lucky to work as a programme director with some of the UK's largest companies on many diverse projects in sectors covering Government, NGO, Defence, Insurance, Finance, Education and Logistics. During this time I have built a reputation for turning round failing programmes and building strong, successful delivery teams.
My current focus is GDPR, working with companies and organisations to help them achieve compliance by the 25th May deadline.
I started off as aDot Net developer and for last 9 plus years I worked as a Business Intelligence Developer. I am a certified Microsoft SQL developer with a fairly decent understanding of SAP Business Objects and a good familiarity with Qlikview.
I focused on development, implementation and reporting, ensuring that at all times, data is expertly captured and enhanced in any new systems. I have extensive experience and competence in implementing software and business intelligence solutions based on the Microsoft platform. I have a 'go-getter' approach to finding technical solutions to manual business processes. I am always eager to learn new technologies and methodologies, and also like to share my ideas and solutions.
In my free time I like long walks and travelling to new places.
