Our client is the Investment Division of a Major Investment Bank employing over 25,000 people worldwide.
The Bank has global reach providing advisory services and distribution power to meet the needs of issuers and investors. They provide strategic advisory, financing and risk management solutions to satisfy their clients’ needs.
The Challenge
We were engaged to provide the specialist skills necessary to help them deliver a number of Business Intelligence projects.
The client had decided to use SAP BW as the engine room for their data provisioning.
Once SAP acquired Business Objects they saw the value of utilizing the enhanced integration and reporting capabilities available with Web Intelligence and Excelcius.
As the client had a heavy workload and was working to very tight time frames this integration enabled a more efficient and time effective implementation.
The Solution
We worked closely with their in-house teams providing them with the in-depth knowledge required when reporting from OLAP cubes.
Our team helped with issues such as tuning the SAP BW cubes, linking via BO Universe creator in the most efficient way and then dealing with the best way to achieve drill downs and parameterized URLs within Web Intelligence reports.
We helped the client make full use of Live Office as well as Web Services in order to improve the performance of their Xcelcius Dashboards.
The Benefits
To date a number of HR projects have been delivered, these include training and attendance analyses, benefit & remuneration analyses as well as annual bonus calculations (important in the Banking world). Given the highly confidential nature of the data, it has been of paramount importance that access to the data and reports has been tightly secured.
Large-scale management reporting packs have been delivered using Web Intelligence, as well as Xcelcius dashboards. Both of these have been linked to the Microsoft suite via Live Office to allow for contextual commentary to be added to the Management Information packs.
Results
The client has been highly satisfied with the results delivered and is looking to utilize our team to help with the BOXI V4 upgrade as well as the implementation of SAP HANA.
The Client now has a consulting partner that understands their system and culture. We work together with their internal teams to help them achieve continuity of knowledge, which we transfer between our core consulting team members.
